1. Who can apply to the Trust?

For individual requests both direct and via agencies /organisations the Trust is only permitted to help people who have lived in the NP44 postal district with at least one year’s residency.

Employees of the Girling South Wales factories (qualifying dates). The Trust can however help ex-employees who worked at any of the Girling South Wales factories irrespective of where they live.

Organisations operating outside the NP44 postal area but delivering services/benefits to people living within the NP44 postal area. It may be possible to help theses bodies

2. In what form does the Trust Provide help?

The Trust aims to benefit the community of Cwmbran area by providing a gift which the Trustees judge to be fit and appropriate, in particular, equipment and materials for the advancement of education, the provision of social amenities and the relief of hardship, distress or sickness. The Trust does not however provide cash gifts or grants for university degrees.

3. What type of items does the Trust support?

The Trust supports a wide variety of items from equipment for the disabled to household furniture and much more – as stated “always ask”

4. How do I apply for gift, aid?

By either downloading the application form from the web site completing it on line and returning it either by e mail, or requesting a copy for completion and returning it by post.

NB: If you require help please either e mail the Trust or phone 01633 834057 (Mondays Only 9am – 3pm). However wherever possible e-mail is the preferred method of communication as it is not limited to Mondays as our Gift Research Office can make contact at any time. You should however check you e-mails regularly for additional information being requested and updates whilst your application is being processed.

5. How soon would I get a reply?

The Trustees meet five times per year in February, May, July, September and December to consider the applications, applicants are advised soon afterwards.

6. What happens if my need is urgent?

In the case of applications considered to be urgent The Trustees are able to meet more frequently or use e mail and telephone to give a quick decision.

7. Will my personal details, supporting my application remain confidential?

Absolutely, the Trust will not disclose any information to any third party and all information will be kept in a secure environment.
